Tips to ace that job interview

Do your homework- Do your research on the company’s history, values, products, latest accomplishments and goals. Information can be found on the company’s official website, newspapers and magazines. Knowledge is power when it comes to answering questions in a confident manner.

Presence- The manner in which you bridge the gap from the door to your seat says a lot about you. Practice at home how you will greet the interviewer and dress appropriately. Leave your nerves behind and convey your enthusiasm through your body language but don’t over do it!

Documents- Always carry a crisp copy of your resume to the interview. If required you can also carry educational and award certificates neatly arranged in a file. Keeping a pen and a small notebook tucked away in the file could come in handy if you need to write something down.

Be prepared- Read your resume twice before the interview to avoid being surprised by a question asked by the interviewer. Have your facts at your fingertips! Be ready to support any claim with examples and specific information. Write down a list of questions that you think the interviewer might ask and prepare answers for each.

Discuss- Remember that an interview is a discussion. Do not hesitate to ask the interviewer questions pertaining to the job profile and the company. Preferably clarify your doubts towards the end of the interview and do not ask the interviewer for information you could have found on the company website.
